The Royal Mail Hotel
Feb 26 2010
I think I'm in love.
In my search for venues for our Engagement Party, I stumbled upon the most beautiful location out in Dunkeld, Victoria. Situated at the base of Mt. Sturgeon, the Royal Mail Hotel boasts an award-winning restaurant with 'unique, nature-based cuisine' that The Age describes as "brave and ultra-modern, without being faddish....rustic, in complete sympathy with the seasons and beautiful to boot".
Surrounding orchards and the restaurant's own kitchen gardens provide the produce utilised in each visually stunning dish. See this video for insight into the process.

With unique and artistic cuisine, luxury hotel accommodation, cosy bluestone cottages, an impressive 1840's colonial homestead and the most stunning views of the Southern Grampians Ranges, The Royal Mail Hotel looks to be the perfect setting for a destination wedding.
"Destination" being the key word. It's about 5 hours drive from Melbourne, a major deterrent in our investigation of it as a viable engagement party venue. But it's definitely on the list for a future weekend getaway... make that a long weekend. :)
From the images, there appears to be something truly magical and uniquely Australian about this place but if you're still not sold, make sure to check out the inspiring video.
